The Falcons opened up league play with a "W", beating Glendale High School by a final score of 7-2.

Will Grimm got the start and went the distance, not allowing any earned runs and striking out 8 in the process.

The game started slow for the offense as the first 3 innings went by without the Falcons plating any runners.  That changed in the 4th when Chase Smith led off the inning with an HBP.  After an out in the inning, Isaac Sung delivered and RBI base hit that scored Smith.  Sung later scored the 2nd run on an error by Glendale.  With 2 outs Jamie Bleveans delivered a clutch hit to score Colby Rees.  With a 3 run lead the Falcons could finally breathe, or so they thought.  Unfortunately, Glendale scraped together 2 runs of their own in the 4th and the game was afoot.

The 5th inning saw the Falcons get a couple of runners on, but didn't look like they would threaten to score with 2 outs in the inning.  Thankfully Sung came to the plate and delivered his 2nd RBI of the game, scoring Vincent Parrot, with a base hit to right field.  David Melendez followed Sung's lead with a 2 out base hit of his own, that scored both Smith and Sung.

The Falcons never looked back and added another run in the top of the 7th on a sacrifice fly by Noah Maddox.

The Falcons take on Glendale for the return leg on Friday night at Stengel Field.
