Dri-Fit shirts stayed in the drawer tonight and the official jerseys came out.  It was the Falcons season and home opener and the players looked sharp and ready for action.

After months of practice and a number of preseason games, it was time for the Falcons to put what they have learned into play against neighboring La Canada.

Brian Gadsby took charge tonight on the hill and pitched six scoreless innings against the Spartans.  Bryan Wang came in the seventh to close out the game, 19-0.

After a scoreless 1st inning the Falcons opened up the scoring in the 2nd with 5 runs.  Brett Klein led off the inning with a base hit and was followed by Ryan Lynch with a bunt for a base hit.  Klein eventually scored on a wild pitch for the fist run of the game.  With runners at 2nd and 3rd, Bryan Wang delivered a base hit to left field that scored both runners.  Kewin Ledesma then stroked the next pitch down the left field line for a double, which scored Wang.  Kevin Hello came in to pinch run for Ledesma, and eventually scored on a wild pitch.

With a five run lead, Gadsby produced a 1, 2, 3 inning in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th.  The 4th inning featured a nice 5-4-3 double play, started by Joe Torres at 3rd base, with a nice turn from Nick Diaz at 2nd base.

The Falcons put another couple of runs on the board in the 5th inning.  Michael Russo eventually scored on a wild pitch after a reaching base on a double.  Brett Klein then roped a triple off the fence in deep right-center field with two outs.  Ryan Lynch then hit a line drive up the middle to score Klein.

In the bottom of the 6th inning the game got out of hand when the Falcons exploded for 12 runs.  Runs came from hits from Chase Walker, Nick Diaz, Austin Brines, and a sac fly from Matt Erickson.

In the end it was a stress free win for the Falcons and a great way to kick off the season.

See you at the next game!!!
