The Falcons got off to a slow start, but eventually got things rolling to dispatch Hoover by a final of 17-0.
Will Smiley got the start tonight and pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings. Drew Atherton kept the shutout going with 2 2/3 innings pitched. Scott Vinceri came in the 7th to finish the game off with 3 strikeouts.
The Falcons weren't able to put up any runs through the first 3 innings, but couldn't be held scoreless for long. Chuck Weinmann had the first RBI with a bunt single. That was followed by a double and 2 RBI's for Kewin Ledesma and an RBI from Will Grimm. Anthony Russo and Nico Arredondo then delivered RBI's of their own and both finished with 3 for the evening. More RBI's came after that but unfortunately I lost track...the hits were coming fast and furious at that point!
The Falcons take on Hoover in the second game of the series on Friday at Stengel. It's Youth Night so come on out and enjoy a night at the ballpark.
